Being present at concerts
I went to a concert the other night and I was stunned by the amount of people that spent the majority of their time recording proceedings on their phones rather than actually watching with their eyes.
These people didn’t experience the concert at all. Their only memories of the whole event are going to be looking at their phones. I get it: you want something to remember, something to show off to your friends about on social media. Well, just take a short clip, one or two photos and be done with it. Also, most of these events are recorded by professionals - do you really think your shitty phone footage from row Z is going to trump their efforts?
Be present. Experience what’s actually happening around you. Watch the performance intently. Feel the beat of the music. Sing along. Smile, jump, dance.
After all, our experiences shape who we are.
